Mistymoon, Emerald, Eunice & Elsa, Seven Brothers & Solitude are a sampling of our favorite and memorable lakes in the Cloud Peak Wilderness (others yet to come). Maybe it’s the trail that ambles along the edge. Maybe it’s the mirrored reflections of the ridiculously amazing vistas that become part of the memory. Maybe it’s the actual destination or just a view to be enjoyed on our mission across the mountain. It could even be an ankle slightly twisted or a bruise from a Chaco’d foot slipping off the rock chasing after a piece of micro-trash. No matter the specific reason, it’s a lake you’ll always remember and feel fortunate to experience.
We started a special lakes collection for just such memories… for those who JUST KNOW.
For now, they will be available via print-on-demand on our Cotton Bureau page… where you have all sorts of options…. tees, hoodies, tanks… men’s, women’s, unisex…. and all sorts of colors.
Lake Solitude, elevation 9,274… maybe it’s the trail that rolls along the edge, maybe it’s the waterfall at the west end… no mater what it is, you’ll always remember it.
Seven Brothers, elevation 9,580, are seven magical lakes… each completely unique in its own way, the last with a show stopping vista & beach. Do yourself a favor and visit each and every brother.
Mistymoon Lake, elevation 10,236, is a sight to be seen, this gorgeous lake is at the heart of several favorite trails, if you’ve ventured up Cloud Peak or followed Florence Pass over the mountains… you wont forget your time spent next to Mistymoon.
Emerald Lake, elevation 10,250, on top of the world, Emerald lake is just that… a gem. At this elevation, the trees are scarce but the beauty of Emerald is much more than trees.
Gunboat Lake, elevation 10,554, resting under the eyes of Bomber Mountain, its bright blue water, wall of stone and clustered rocky landscape feels like you’ve landed in a Radiohead video landscape or at least another planet.
Lake Euice at 10,104′ & Lake Elsa at 10,098′ elevation in the Cloud Peak Wilderness, Bighorn Mountains. A most dynamic duo, these two lovely ladies rest at the base of rough rocky terrain below Black Tooth. Lake Elsa named after Elsa Spear (Byron) a photographer & guide of the Bighorn Mountains in the 1920s &30s.
Spear Lake at 9,750′ elevation in the Cloud Peak Wilderness, Bighorn Mountains. An unforgettable lake set deep in the heart of the the Bighorn National Forest. The jagged peaks that protect this lake will always have a home in your heart.
